Somatic Yoga - a trauma informed approach-
Release stress & tension, come out of overwhelm & reduce pain.
Somatic work really came to light with the work of Peter Levine in his research into trauma and his system of healing known as somatic experiencing and Psychiatrist and researcher, Bessel Van der Volk, who documented how yoga can help in his well known book “The Body Keeps the Score.”
Somatics and yoga offer a tangible way to help connect to the body, the place of healing and transformation.
What is Somatic Yoga?-
Classes are creative and often themed around different topics where we can explore embodiment such as bringing in the Elements, embodied chakra work, experiential anatomy and breathwork. I guide from a trauma informed perspective and work with chronic pain and felt body blockages. I weave in somatic movement from Hannah somatics which helps to more deeply release stored tension. Classes also incorporate sound healing, voice and breath and somatic regulation practices. I look forward to welcoming you. Any questions, contact-me.
“Just let go of all the rest of your day, now. Let all of your worries roll off your shoulders; let’s just enjoy being home in the body for the next hour and a half.”
— Stephen Cope, Yoga and the Quest for the True Self
